The foundation is clearly the most important, however, the next step your project also requires a certain degree of technical expertise and planning. Although the goal is to create a middle with substantial width, albeit less than the base, the final size will invariably be restricted by the strength of the participants in the venture. While these instructions will not attempt to expatiate on the merits of teamwork, and indeed, this is a project that can be performed on an individual basis, it is generally accepted by experts that only those working in teams of at least two or more can lift an object of sufficient circumference to create an overall pleasing effect on the design. Make it too small, and your creation will look like a small breasted woman wearing an inflatable tire on top of childbearing hips; make it too large, and it will resemble three scoops of vanilla ice cream on a cone that has been licked only around the bottom. What you must always consider, and where the skill of a master in this craft is most evident, is the effect that the eventual melting conditions will have on your subject. History is littered with many an inadequate middle that has resulted in a total undignified collapse and possibly the worst calamity of all – decapitation, when a top heavy head rolled off!
