They wandered around the small city, enjoying shared company and nature’s autumn display that washed the streets with extraordinary pallets of color such as bright gold, burnished orange, and brilliant red. The air was crisp and the sky was clear on that early afternoon in September; the perfect day for walking. They passed by an old, yellow, thickly painted clapboard house that had a small but cheery front porch just large enough to hold two white wooden rocking chairs with tall backs. A bronze plaque, attached at eye level on the left side of the front door established that the house was indeed old, having been built in 1897. In the small front yard, an open house sign beckoned them to please come inside. As soon as they stepped into the foyer and heard the creak of the well worn dark oak plank floors; boards over which so many feet had stepped before them, they felt an overwhelming numinous presence pull them back into time.
