Frangible

Today’s word is frangible which is an adjective which means easily broken; breakable.

She had waited for the bus about 10 minutes longer than her usual 15, in the cold, subzero winter air. It seemed to like she would never warm up, so she was sitting in her seat with her heavy winter coat buttoned all the way up and the soft knitted wool scarf still looped around her neck. It had been such a stressful day at work and she felt very tired. She tried to stay awake and listen to her audiobook but the narrator had a very deep, soothing voice and the subject matter was not very interesting, so she started to drift into a light, frangible sleep, her head bobbing up and down with the movement of the bus. She was sitting in a seat nearest the window, with her large backpack on her lap, but no one was sitting beside her. Every once and awhile the bus driver would hit the brakes especially hard, and this would jerk her forward and wake her up, but she would only stay awake long enough to note that the bus had not been in an accident and then return right back to sleep. Her ride could have been the best part of her day if the tall, linebacker-sized man hadn’t gotten on the bus when she was about halfway home, and decided to wedge himself into the seat right beside her.
